A man removed a knife from the scene following a police shooting in NYC

Over the weekend, a police shooting occurred at a New York City subway station where a man was shot after threatening officers with a folding knife. The incident took place around 3 p.m., resulting in injuries to the man, one officer, and two passengers. An image of the knife, approximately the width of a man’s palm, was circulated by the New York City Police Department.
Following the shooting, it was discovered that a knife went missing from the crime scene around 3:35 p.m. on Sunday. Authorities are now seeking a person who took the knife and released an image of an individual wearing a blue hat with the logo of the defunct Hartford Whalers ice hockey team.
Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey revealed that officers confronted the 37-year-old man after he entered the subway station without paying and brandished the blade. Despite attempts to subdue him with Tasers on a train that had arrived at the station, the man continued to advance with the knife, prompting the officers to open fire.
The suspect sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was hospitalized in stable condition, while one passenger was critically injured, and another passenger suffered a minor graze wound. The injured officer, who had a bullet lodged in his back, is expected to fully recover. Both police and Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials have access to video evidence of the incident but have not made it public.
