Fritz re-enters ATP top 10 post US Open; Navarro achieves career-best WTA No. 8 ranking

U.S. Open saw Taylor Fritz and Jessica Pegula, the men’s and women’s runners-up, respectively, rise in the ATP and WTA rankings. Fritz secured the 7th spot in the ATP rankings, while Pegula climbed to 3rd in the WTA list. Emma Navarro, a semifinalist, reached a career-best ranking at No. 8.

Jannik Sinner extended his lead as the ATP’s No. 1 after defeating Fritz in the final. On the women’s side, Aryna Sabalenka, the champion, maintained the No. 2 spot in the WTA rankings. Sabalenka expressed her focus on self-improvement rather than her ranking position after her victory over Pegula in the final.

Sabalenka previously reached the top WTA ranking briefly and is the only woman with more than one Grand Slam title in 2024. Last year’s champions, Coco Gauff and Novak Djokovic, dropped in the rankings after being eliminated in the tournament.

Alexander Zverev secured the No. 2 spot in the men’s rankings, followed by Carlos Alcaraz at No. 3. Jack Draper from Britain achieved a career-best ranking at No. 20 after reaching his first Slam semifinal. In the women’s rankings, Elena Rybakina and Jasmine Paolini kept their No. 4 and No. 5 spots, respectively.

The Olympic gold medalist Zheng Qinwen remained at No. 7, with Navarro climbing to No. 8. Fritz’s remarkable performance as the first American man in 15 years to reach a major final earned him a significant rise in the rankings.
