A horse called Swift Delivery, in which Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, has a stake, finished second in its recent race at the $125,000 Toronto Cup Stakes in Woodbine. The horse, a 3-year-old gelding ridden by Patrick Husbands, started as the even-money favorite in the one-mile race on the E.P. Taylor turf course but was overtaken by Piper’s Factor, who paid $16.60 to win. Despite Swift Delivery’s two-race winning streak ending, the horse still managed to secure second place in the race.
Barry Irwin, the founder and CEO of Team Valor International, clarified that Swift Delivery is not named after the famed pop star Taylor Swift, who is reportedly in a relationship with Kelce. Kelce, a three-time Super Bowl winner with the Kansas City Chiefs, has shown interest in horse racing, attending the Kentucky Derby in May.
Swift Delivery’s second-place finish in the Toronto Cup Stakes brings an end to its recent winning streak, as it was unable to secure a victory in the race despite starting as the favorite. The horse made a strong move on the outside under Husbands’ guidance but fell short against the eventual winner, Piper’s Factor, who emerged victorious with odds of 7-1, paying $16.60 to win. Despite this loss, Swift Delivery remains a promising contender in the racing circuit.
