Former South Carolina governor and United Nations ambassador, Nikki Haley, has decided to release her 97 delegates won in various primaries and caucuses this year, allowing them to back Donald Trump at the upcoming Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. Haley emphasized the need for party unity and criticized Democratic President Joe Biden, stating he is “not competent to serve a second term.” She also expressed concerns about Vice President Kamala Harris potentially becoming president, suggesting it would be detrimental to America.
Despite not being invited to the convention in Milwaukee next week, Haley’s spokesperson, Chaney Denton, confirmed that she supports Trump and wishes him success. Haley had been a significant challenger to Trump during the primaries, shutting down her campaign after Super Tuesday. This move came following disagreements with Trump over U.S. alliances abroad, with Trump referring to her as “Birdbrain.”
Haley’s endorsement of Trump comes as Biden’s campaign works to win over Haley’s supporters, seen as crucial swing voters. However, Haley made it clear in May that she intends to vote for Trump and has left the task of winning over her supporters to the former president. The Trump campaign has not yet commented on Haley’s decision, as reported by Politico.
