In others, not a single structure remains, including the “Marquez Charter Elementary” school, one of many educational facilities reduced to rubble.
The devastation stretches for miles. Entire hillsides have been stripped of vegetation, leaving a barren, blackened landscape. Official reports confirm that 86 square kilometers have been consumed by flames. What makes this fire a disaster of historic proportions is the sheer number of residential areas affected. Over 5,000 buildings have been destroyed in Pacific Palisades and Malibu alone, with thousands more lost to the other four major fires ravaging the region.
Firefighters Make Progress Amid the Ruins
After three days of relentless destruction, the thousands of firefighters on the ground are finally making headway. The last active hotspots are now confined to inaccessible canyon areas.
