KEY POINT SUMMARY – Ukraine Targets Moscow
• Ukraine targets Moscow with drone strikes ahead of parade
• Attacks disrupt flights and cause security chaos
• Foreign leaders arrive for Victory Day in Red Square
• Russia hits Ukraine back, killing civilians in Kyiv
• Ceasefire plans falter as both sides brace for escalation

Ukraine Targets Moscow With Bold Drone Strikes

The tense Ukraine targets Moscow drama escalated sharply as drones hit the Russian capital during critical preparations.

On Wednesday, long-range Ukrainian drones forced massive flight disruptions for a third straight day. The strikes came just as world leaders, including China’s Xi Jinping, arrived for Russia’s Victory Day parade.

Russian authorities scrambled. Over 100 Aeroflot flights were canceled, and 140 more were delayed. Moscow’s airports went into lockdown.

Moscow Under Siege As Parade Nears

Moscow’s Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed Russia repelled nine drones early Wednesday.

Later that evening, 15 more drones targeted Moscow in a coordinated strike. The relentless assaults rattled nerves ahead of Russia’s biggest secular holiday.

For President Vladimir Putin, the timing couldn’t be worse. He faces global scrutiny as foreign dignitaries fill Red Square for the 80th anniversary celebrations.

Ukraine Targets Moscow — And Putin’s Image

The strikes appeared timed to embarrass the Kremlin.

Russia has claimed the war is under control. However, the Ukraine Targets Moscow attacks painted a different picture. Even as Putin welcomed global leaders, his capital came under fire.

Foreign guests, including China’s Xi and Brazil’s Lula, landed amid tightened security. Moscow announced a 72-hour ceasefire for the celebrations. Yet tensions remained high.

Global Reactions And Ceasefire Struggles

While Russia sought calm, Vice President JD Vance said Wednesday the U.S. preferred long-term peace talks.

He admitted Moscow rejected a proposed 30-day ceasefire. Instead, the Kremlin aims for terms more favorable to Russia.

Ukraine’s leader, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, warned foreign visitors they would not be safe. He said provocations could be staged by Russia and blamed on Ukraine.

Regional Airspace Closed As Fears Spread

Russia’s neighbors are on edge, too.

Baltic nations Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania closed their airspace to Serbia’s and Slovakia’s leaders. They cited fears of provocations during Victory Day.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov lashed out, calling the move “a disgrace.” Meanwhile, over 350 flights across Russia faced restrictions amid the Ukraine Targets Moscow attacks.

Deadly Night For Ukraine As Russia Hits Back

While Moscow came under siege, Ukraine suffered deadly blows.

Russia fired ballistic missiles and 142 drones overnight. Kyiv endured another nightmare. At least two people died in a five-story building after drone debris sparked a blaze.

In the city’s Sviatoshynskyi district, another building burned after drone fragments hit. Ukrainian officials reported rescuing several trapped residents.

Ukraine Targets Moscow As War Shows No Sign Of Ending

As the world watches, the conflict continues to spiral.

The bold Ukraine targets Moscow strikes humiliated Putin as he welcomed allies. Meanwhile, Russia’s deadly retaliation killed civilians in Kyiv.

With no ceasefire in sight, both sides are bracing for a violent summer, and global leaders are caught in the crossfire.
