“No, he’s not going to be president, that I can tell you,” Trump quipped with a laugh, referencing the South African-born billionaire. “And I’m safe. You know why? He can’t be. He wasn’t born in this country.”
Trump Praises Musk While Dispelling Rumors
While jokingly brushing off the idea of Musk as a rival, Trump praised him as a “great guy.” Musk, along with tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, is slated to lead the newly created Department of Government Efficiency, tasked with slashing government size and spending.
The comments come amid Democratic efforts to paint Musk as a shadow leader, accusing him of wielding undue influence over Trump and the Republican Party. Last week, Musk and Trump intervened in a chaotic spending bill standoff, sparking accusations from Democrats and even taunts that Musk is the “real” president.
