‘The Voice’ champion Sundance Head recuperates at his residence following an accidental shooting on his Texas ranch.

TYLER, Texas — Sundance Head, a country music artist and the winner of the 11th season of “The Voice,” is recuperating at home following an accidental gunshot wound to his stomach during a hunting trip at his East Texas ranch, as confirmed by his representative on Sunday.

According to his agent, Trey Newman, the incident occurred when Head was reaching into his vehicle to retrieve his .22 caliber pistol. Unfortunately, the gun slipped from its holster, fell against the vehicle, and discharged, resulting in a shot that struck Head in the abdomen. Newman provided details via email regarding the accident.

Head was promptly airlifted to a medical facility in Tyler, which is situated approximately 100 miles east of Dallas. Fortunately, he sustained no injuries to vital organs and did not require surgery. He was discharged from the hospital later that Friday, according to Newman’s report.

Prior to his success on “The Voice,” Head had also participated in “American Idol” in 2007, where he made it to the top 16 contestants before facing elimination. Now hailing from Porter, a community north of Houston, Head has several performances lined up in Texas and Illinois in the near future.
