Nelson Leads Eastern Michigan to 84-73 Victory Over Central

    YPSILANTI, Mich. — Da’Sean Nelson played a pivotal role in Eastern Michigan’s notable 84-73 triumph over Central Michigan on Friday, securing a team-high 25 points.

    Nelson further contributed to the Eagles’ success with 10 rebounds and five assists, helping elevate the team’s season record to 15-14 overall, with a 8-8 standing in the Mid-American Conference. His teammate, Jalen Terry, also shone by matching Nelson’s scoring output with 25 points and supplementing Eastern Michigan’s attack with seven rebounds. Christian Henry chipped in with a strong offensive effort, netting 13 points, shooting 5 for 9 from the field and hitting half of his six attempts from beyond the three-point line.

    For Central Michigan, which dropped to a 13-16 record and 6-10 in the conference, Ugnius Jarusevicius emerged as a top performer with 23 points, adding 11 rebounds and two blocks to his commanding performance. Jakobi Heady also played well, contributing 21 points and making two steals, while Anthony Pritchard rounded out the Chippewas’ leading scorers with 15 points, further adding six rebounds, seven assists, and three steals to his stat line.

    Eastern Michigan seized an early advantage, taking the lead with 16:47 left in the first half and maintaining their momentum throughout the game. Nelson spearheaded the first-half effort with 11 points, paving the way for a 44-36 halftime lead. Terry’s impressive 20-point performance in the second half helped secure the Eagles’ 11-point victory margin.

    Looking ahead, both teams will take to the court again on Tuesday. Eastern Michigan is set to travel to Ohio, while Central Michigan will visit Ball State.
