Stephen Nedoroscik, known as the ‘Pommel Horse Guy’, to appear on ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Fresh from his success at the Olympics, American gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik, who gained fame as “Pommel Horse Guy” online, is set to appear on the upcoming season of the popular TV show “Dancing With the Stars.”

The announcement of Nedoroscik’s participation was made on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” He is the first celebrity contestant to be revealed for the new season, scheduled to premiere on September 17 on ABC and Disney+. Additionally, Nedoroscik is the first male gymnast to compete on the show, as noted by “Good Morning America” co-host Robin Roberts.

During his appearance on the morning show, the 25-year-old expressed his enthusiasm for bringing elements of gymnastics into his dancing routine, mentioning the possibility of incorporating a backflip or handstand while aiming to have a fun experience on the show.

Nedoroscik captured two bronze medals in Paris, contributing to the American men’s team winning its first Olympic medal in 16 years and claiming third place in his individual event. His viral fame soared due to memes depicting his unique pre-competition rituals, which included a Superman-like transformation where he removes his glasses, akin to Clark Kent.

Despite acknowledging his widespread internet fame, Nedoroscik expressed his enjoyment of the memes circulating online during his time in Paris. As the 33rd season of “Dancing With the Stars” gears up, Nedoroscik’s fellow competitors are yet to be revealed, with the show being co-hosted by Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough and judged by Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough.

Regarding his signature glasses, an integral part of his image, Nedoroscik hinted at having some fun with them during the show. Due to concerns about them falling off during his performances, given his coloboma eye condition, he pondered potential strategies such as using a gadget to secure them in place or perhaps sporting a new pair of glasses to match different themes on the show.
