Source: Packers quarterback Jordan Love signs 4-year contract extension valued at $220 million, according to AP source

Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Jordan Love has recently inked a lucrative four-year contract extension, as reported by a source familiar with the negotiations. The deal is valued at $220 million and includes a substantial $75 million signing bonus and $155 million in guarantees. This significant extension comes after Love’s impressive performance last season, where he led the team to a 10-9 record and secured a playoff spot in his first year as a starter, following Aaron Rodgers’ departure to the New York Jets.

Reports of Love’s contract agreement surfaced on the same day that other quarterbacks, such as Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa, Detroit’s Jared Goff, and Jacksonville’s Trevor Lawrence, also secured lucrative extensions. Love, who is 25 years old, had temporarily paused his participation in training camp while awaiting the resolution of contract talks. General manager Brian Gutekunst expressed confidence in Love as the team’s franchise quarterback, emphasizing the importance of building a strong team around him for the present and future.

The Packers had previously signed Love to a one-year extension in May 2023, allowing them to assess his performance as a starter last season. Love impressed with a completion rate of 64.2%, 4,159 yards passing, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Notably, he threw 21 touchdown passes with just one interception in a nine-game stretch, showcasing remarkable growth as the season progressed. Love’s performance drew comparisons to accomplished quarterbacks like Kurt Warner and Patrick Mahomes for his yardage and touchdown numbers.

Love’s 32 touchdown passes ranked him second in the league behind Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys, demonstrating his potential as a rising star in the NFL. Since being drafted by the Packers in 2020, Love has transitioned from a backup to a standout starter, impressing fans and critics alike with his skill and determination on the field.
