DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Stefanos Tsitsipas triumphed at the Dubai Championships, capturing his inaugural ATP 500 title by defeating Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-3, 6-3 in the final on Saturday.
Ranked 11th in the world, Tsitsipas had previously fallen short in all 11 ATP 500 finals he contested, including two prior finals in Dubai in 2019 and 2020. However, in just under 90 minutes, he clinched his 12th career title and his first win of the year.
“It’s a significant relief to finally hold this trophy after my third attempt,” Tsitsipas expressed, referencing losses to Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in earlier Dubai finals. “This goal was always in my mind, and I am thrilled to achieve it.”
The Greek athlete powered through the last four games of the opening set and sealed his victory with an ace on his first match point opportunity. Notably, Tsitsipas fended off all seven break points against him, enhancing his head-to-head record to 7-3 over Auger-Aliassime. This victory propels him back into the world’s top 10 rankings for the first time since May.
Felix Auger-Aliassime, ranked 21st, was aiming to secure what would have been his third tour-leading win of the year for 2025, having previously tasted victory in Adelaide and Montpellier earlier this season.
