Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon has found himself embroiled in accusations stemming from a Connecticut highway accident that severely damaged his Bentley and resulted in collision with two other vehicles. This incident occurred mere hours before the news of the death of wrestling icon Hulk Hogan broke, with McMahon later publicly lauding Hogan.

State police reports highlight McMahon’s traffic violations, citing him for reckless driving and maintaining insufficient distance between vehicles during Thursday’s crash on Merritt Parkway in Westport. While no injuries were reported, McMahon was subsequently released on a $500 bond and is scheduled to make an appearance at the Stamford Superior Court on August 26. Despite attempts to reach representatives for McMahon, no comments were received, even as TMZ initially reported the crash.

Photographs taken by Barbara Doran, one of those involved in the collision, exhibit significant damage to the front end of McMahon’s 2024 Bentley Continental GT Speed, along with apparent rear-end damage to Doran’s BMW 430. According to the police documentation, McMahon’s northbound course along the parkway, known as Route 15, was disrupted when his vehicle rear-ended Doran’s BMW and subsequently hit a wooden guardrail. Debris from the crash escalated matters, leading to another vehicle in the southbound lanes being struck by it, as explained by state police.

Police confirm that all involved drivers were wearing seat belts during the incident, noting the deployment of airbags in McMahon’s car, while those in the BMW failed to deploy. Doran, a New York City resident, recounted the crash, stating her vehicle was pushed off the road following the collision. “I was driving along in the right lane and suddenly, boom. I was hit from behind and catapulted forward,” she described, illustrating the struggle to maintain control.

Upon learning from a state trooper that the other party involved was Vince McMahon, whom she was not familiar with, Doran exchanged words with McMahon post-crash. Expressing increased concern, McMahon assured her well-being, with Doran acknowledging his consideration, saying, “He just, you know, expressed concern, was glad I was OK and all that. And I thanked him for his concern.”

McMahon’s career took a downturn in 2022 when he resigned as WWE’s CEO following a company inquiry into allegations of sexual misconduct. Last year, McMahon also stepped down as executive chairman for TKO Group Holdings, WWE’s parent company, after facing a sexual abuse lawsuit from a former WWE staff member – a claim McMahon refutes, with legal proceedings still ongoing.

Having acquired the World Wrestling Federation, now known as WWE, in 1982, Vince McMahon elevated it into a global powerhouse, all while actively participating in events alongside his wife Linda McMahon, the current U.S. education secretary.

The account has been amended to clarify that the BMW’s airbags did not deploy, based on statements from the driver.
