CULVER CITY, Calif. — Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Apple Music is marking the milestone by unveiling the Apple Music Studios. Expected to launch in mid-August, this new facility is a sprawling, three-story, 15,000-square-foot venue located in the Los Angeles area designed to inspire artists and foster deeper connections with fans.
Inside the state-of-the-art space are two advanced radio studios prepared for spatial audio, live interviews, impromptu conversations, and surprise performances. Adjacent to these radio studios stands a vast 4,000-square-foot soundstage, equipped to host live performances, fan gatherings, and cinematic shoots. Positioned in Culver City, Apple Music Studios is situated among other big entertainment names such as Sony Music, Amazon MGM, and Amazon Music. Architect Eric Owen Moss, renowned for his unique and imaginative designs in the region, conceived the building housing the studio.
Apple Music’s venture signals a bold step toward the evolution of sound, music, and storytelling. According to Zane Lowe, the global creative director and lead anchor for Apple Music 1, “It’s the future of listening and enjoying music.” To commemorate Apple Music’s 10-year journey, Lowe and Ebro Darden will launch a week-long celebration starting with a special Monday show dedicated to the inception of Apple Music Radio.
Lowe emphasizes the ambition of creating numerous opportunities to surprise and delight audiences worldwide. “We want to craft moments that captivate fans enough to momentarily shift their focus from other interests. This studio aims to be such a moment,” he explained.
This new studio will be a cornerstone of a global network of creative hubs, with plans to open additional studios in New York and London shortly. These new locations will join Apple Music’s existing production facilities already established in global cities like Tokyo, Berlin, Paris, and Nashville.
The vision is for the new studio to offer a creative retreat fostering profound connections between artists and creators. It will be equipped with a photo and social media lab, an editing suite, and a green room to facilitate real-time content production. Private isolation booths will provide spaces conducive to songwriting, podcasting, and intimate one-on-one interviews. Hallways adorned with curated images and artwork will pay homage to standout moments from Apple Music’s journey.
Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Music and Beats, remarked, “Our goal is to craft a platform that serves artists and creators from all disciplines, be it photography, filmmaking, songwriting, or musicianship. We envision a space that allows for the recording of additional content to enrich the storytelling experience.”
