SAN FRANCISCO — The Golden State Warriors made strategic moves on Sunday by securing team options for two players and highlighting their intent to retain another. Center Quinten Post and forward Gui Santos both had their respective team options exercised, ensuring Post remains for a second year with a $1.9 million option and Santos for a third year with a $2.2 million option, though it is non-guaranteed. Furthermore, the Warriors extended a $7.9 million qualifying offer to forward Jonathan Kuminga.

These decisions indicate Golden State’s commitment to maintaining their roster’s core. Extending Kuminga’s qualifying offer means the Warriors can match any proposals he receives from other franchises. Alongside Kuminga, guard Taran Armstrong also received a qualifying offer, putting the Warriors in a favorable position to retain both players.

By acting before the deadline, Golden State has ensured both Kuminga and Armstrong will be restricted free agents come July 1. This strategic move allows them the first right to match any offer sheets the players might agree to with different teams.

One of the hot topics for the Warriors this offseason is the future of Jonathan Kuminga. After suffering a right ankle injury, Kuminga managed to play only 47 games during the season, earning starting status in 10 of them. Despite the setbacks, he delivered strong numbers, averaging 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 24.3 minutes each game. This comes after the Warriors’ journey ended with a second-round playoff loss to Minnesota.
