KANSAS CITY, Mo. — FC Dallas overcame an extended winless stretch on Saturday night with a 4-2 victory against Sporting Kansas City, largely thanks to Luciano Acosta’s impressive offensive display. This match marked Acosta’s first multi-goal effort this season and the fourth of his professional journey. His contribution was pivotal as Dallas managed to break free from a six-game winless run.
Goalkeeper Maarten Paes, simply known as “Maarten,” was instrumental for Dallas, making three key saves during the match. Acosta proved decisive as he confidently scored a penalty in the 59th minute, providing Dallas with some breathing room. Later, in the 82nd minute, Acosta secured a 4-2 lead, sealing the win with another goal.
The game kicked off with high intensity, as Shapi Suleymanov delivered an early blow to Dallas, scoring a stunning goal in the eighth minute. Suleymanov launched a shot from near the right corner of the penalty area, finding the back post and giving Kansas City a 1-0 lead.
Dallas responded swiftly. Petar Musa brought them level just three minutes later. Musa executed a crisp one-touch shot from close range after a crucial link-up with Shaq Moore, who delivered a perfectly timed cross.
As the first half progressed, Bernard Kamungo joined Dallas’s scoring party. Following a well-saved attempt by Kansas City’s goalkeeper John Pulskamp, Kamungo capitalized on the rebound, tapping into an open net to put Dallas ahead.
Kansas City faced further challenges as Khiry Shelton received a second yellow card in the 62nd minute, leaving his team with ten men on the pitch. This advantage allowed Dallas to capitalize and drive home their superior numbers.
In the closing moments of the match, Santiago Muñóz added the finishing touch during stoppage time. This was Muñóz’s second MLS goal, both of which have come in recent matches.
After a string of good performances, Kansas City has now suffered consecutive losses, halting their previous four-game unbeaten run. Their earlier meeting with Dallas this season on March 29 resulted in a 2-1 defeat on Dallas’s home turf.
