AUSTIN, Texas — On a rainy Saturday night at the Q2 Stadium, Austin FC triumphed over the New York Red Bulls with a narrow victory of 2-1. The goals from Guilherme Biro and Brandon Vázquez secured Austin’s second consecutive win.

Austin FC, with a current record of 7-7-5, has found its stride again after going eight matches without a victory. This successful run follows a recent 2-0 win against Colorado. Vázquez played a crucial role by converting a cross from Osman Bukari in the 51st minute. He utilized the inside of his left foot to skillfully redirect the ball into the net, securing a decisive lead for Austin.

The match kicked off with Biro opening the scoring in just the sixth minute. A strategically executed corner kick by Owen Wolff was sent back towards him, allowing for a precise chipped pass to Biro. Rising high, Biro headed the ball home from the edge of the 6-yard box, marking an early advantage for Austin.

The New York Red Bulls managed to respond in the 23rd minute, albeit through an own goal. Emil Forsberg sent a chipped shot into the area, which was unfortunately redirected by Vázquez into his own net, equalizing the score at 1-1.

This defeat snapped New York’s three-game winning streak, their longest such streak of the season. The Red Bulls, who now stand at 8-7-3, have struggled on the road, holding a challenging away record of 1-6-2 this season.

Austin’s goalkeeper, Brad Stuver, contributed by making a vital save during the match, while the Red Bulls’ goalkeeper, Carlos Miguel Coronel, successfully stopped two shots. This spirited encounter left Austin fans hopeful as their team continues to improve its league standing.
