San Antonio Floods: 13 Confirmed Dead, All Missing Located

    SAN ANTONIO — Authorities have confirmed that the death toll from the torrential rains that flooded sections of San Antonio has increased to 13, and all individuals reported missing have been located.

    On Thursday, the city experienced an intense downpour, with more than 7 inches (approximately 18 centimeters) of rain falling within just a few hours. This deluge resulted in swift floodwaters that swept numerous vehicles into a local creek.

    In dramatic scenes, some individuals sought refuge by climbing trees to avoid the dangerous waters. San Antonio’s firefighters were engaged in an extensive rescue operation, successfully saving more than 70 people throughout the city. As floodwaters rose rapidly, over a dozen vehicles became stuck or overturned in Beital Creek.

    According to the San Antonio Fire Department, 11 of the deceased victims were recovered in the Perrin Beitel area around the creek. Additionally, one individual was discovered several miles upstream, highlighting the strength and speed of the floodwaters. This tragic incident underscores the deadly potential of flash floods and the necessity for emergency preparedness in such situations.
