MILWAUKEE — Freddy Peralta delivered an impressive performance on the mound as the Milwaukee Brewers edged out the St. Louis Cardinals with a 3-2 victory on Friday night. Over six innings, Peralta struck out six batters while allowing just one run, helping his team maintain their lead. The Brewers capitalized on their chances to outscore the Cardinals despite limited offensive production.

In the early part of the game, Peralta (6-4) retired the Cardinals in order during the first three innings. However, resiliently, he did allow four hits and a walk thereafter. Meanwhile, the Cardinals have now dropped six consecutive games, sliding 1.5 games behind the second-place Brewers and trailing first-place Chicago by six games in the National League Central division.

The Cardinals managed to get on the scoreboard in the fifth inning when Alec Burleson and Nolan Arenado started the inning with consecutive doubles. They managed to narrow the gap to one run in the ninth inning courtesy of Victor Scott’s RBI single against Milwaukee’s Trevor Megill.

St. Louis’ pitcher, Erick Fedde (3-6), faced minimal issues initially, as well, holding the Brewers hitless through three innings. The first to break through was Sal Frelick, who singled in the fourth inning, hitting Fedde on the left wrist. Despite the incident, Fedde remained in the game. Shortly after, William Contreras drove in a run with an RBI double to get Milwaukee on the board.

In the sixth inning, the Brewers started strong with consecutive singles, taking the lead via a sacrifice fly from Contreras, marking the end of Fedde’s night on the mound. Milwaukee added another run in the same inning when Christian Yelich reached base on a fielder’s choice, enlarging their slim margin.

Freddy Peralta continued to excel at home, with an unblemished 4-0 record and an impressive 1.09 ERA in seven starts this season on home turf. The Brewers have demonstrated their strength in these matchups, securing victories in six out of those seven contests.

Looking ahead, the Brewers are set to have left-handed pitcher Jose Quintana (4-1, 2.86 ERA) face St. Louis’ right-handed pitcher Andre Pallante (4-3, 4.75 ERA) in their next matchup on Saturday.
