VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Jeevan Badwal opened his scoring account with his first career goal in the 40th minute, while Daniel Ríos added his inaugural goal of the season as the Vancouver Whitecaps secured a 2-0 victory over the Seattle Sounders on Sunday night, further extending their unbeaten run to ten games.

The match took a dramatic turn when Seattle’s Nouhou Tolo, commonly referred to as “Nouhou,” and Jon Bell both received red cards in quick succession—at the 51st and 55th minutes. This left Seattle (7-6-5) to compete with a two-man disadvantage for the remainder of the game.

Vancouver (10-1-5) currently leads Major League Soccer in points accumulation with 35, boasting a league-best average of 2.19 points per match.

The breakthrough for Vancouver came from the 19-year-old homegrown midfielder Badwal, who netted a first-touch finish to propel his team to a 1-0 lead.

Ríos then doubled the advantage with a precise rising shot from outside the box that threaded through two defenders and nestled inside the left post in the 70th minute. Veteran player Damir Kreilach, appearing for the first time this season, was substituted on in the 74th minute and later converted from the penalty spot in the 88th minute to seal the victory.

Seattle retained 54% possession throughout the game but was outshot by Vancouver 13-7, with the Whitecaps placing five shots on target compared to none from the Sounders. Seattle’s goalkeeper, Stefan Frei, managed to make two saves during the match.
