SEATTLE — The Seattle Storm managed to overcome their recent struggles, securing an 83-77 win against the Dallas Wings on Tuesday night, thus halting their three-game losing streak. The match was highlighted by a commendable performance from Gabby Williams, who scored 18 points, and Nneka Ogwumike added 14 points, with 10 of those coming in the second half.

The game took a pivotal turn in the third quarter when Erica Wheeler converted a three-point play with 2:47 left, initiating a 16-2 run that allowed Seattle to seize its first lead, 50-49, since trailing 25-24 earlier in the second quarter.

A significant play came in the final quarter when Skylar Diggins executed a fast-break layup while being fouled with 3:40 remaining. The foul was upgraded to a flagrant 1, resulting in Diggins making the free throw. Seattle retained possession, leading to a basket by Ezi Magbegor, widening their lead to 74-63.

Magbegor’s basket culminated Seattle’s impressive 18-4 run, during which Dallas struggled to find the basket, failing to score a field goal for over five minutes and missing eight consecutive shots.

Erica Wheeler, instrumental in the second half, scored all 11 of her points during this period and contributed seven assists for Seattle, now with a season record of 4-4. Skylar Diggins, often a consistent scorer, concluded the game with nine points, ending her streak of scoring double digits in 22 consecutive games — the third longest current streak in the WNBA.

The Storm also benefited from a strong bench contribution, with reserve players combining for 30 points.

On the Dallas side, DiJonai Carrington took the lead with 22 points as Dallas moved to a 1-7 record. Myisha Hines-Allen put up a solid performance, adding 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Maddy Siegrist contributed with 11 points and nine rebounds. Meanwhile, Arike Ogunbowale found herself limited to eight points, hitting only 4 of 15 from the field.

In the closing moments of the first half, Luisa Geiselsoder drilled a wide-open three-pointer to push Dallas’ lead to 38-30 at halftime, setting up an intense second half that ultimately saw Seattle emerge victorious.
