In the suburban area of New York City, authorities have apprehended a man who has gained notoriety as a “social media prankster” due to his viral antics where he dumps large quantities of food over himself and flees, leaving the clean-up to others. This individual, Kyle Vazquez, 21, was taken into custody in Centereach, located on Long Island, earlier this week. He faces a total of eight charges, comprising six counts related to recording individuals without their consent, in addition to two counts of criminal tampering, as stated by the police.
On Tuesday, Vazquez, a resident of Coram, entered a plea of not guilty during his arraignment and has been released while awaiting his next court appearance scheduled for June 30, according to prosecutorial sources and court documentation.
Law enforcement in Suffolk County reported that on April 29, Vazquez upended a container of eggs over his head at the entrance of a Ralph’s Italian Ices in Centereach, subsequently speeding off in a vehicle and leaving a mess of egg remnants at the scene. The following day, he executed a parallel prank in a local Chinese restaurant, dousing himself with a bucket of beans while shirtless in the establishment’s interior.
In May, Vazquez approached three residences, requesting to use their bathrooms. Instead of fulfilling this request, he created disturbances within the homes and recorded the occupants without their awareness or approval, police have said. Vazquez has shared videos of these pranks, among various others, with his over 100,000 followers on TikTok.
Despite multiple attempts to reach out for a statement, the Legal Aid Society of Suffolk County, which is providing legal representation for Vazquez, did not respond to email inquiries on Tuesday.
