In North Carolina, an arrest was made on Tuesday linked to a weekend shooting at a house party that resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries. A 20-year-old man, Garon Nathaniel Killian from Lenoir, has been charged with attempted murder, according to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office.

Killian is currently detained without bail, and online sources do not provide any booking or attorney details for him. Efforts to reach the county court clerk’s office for comments were also unsuccessful as their answering machine wasn’t accepting voicemails. Law enforcement officials carried out search warrants on Tuesday as part of their ongoing probe into the incident. The authorities noted that there might be more arrests as the investigation continues.

The violent episode unfolded early Sunday morning in a normally serene residential area located approximately 7 miles south of Hickory, Catawba County. Reports indicate that over 80 gunshots rang out around 12:45 a.m. Residents described scenes of chaos, with people racing to seek shelter, ducking for cover, and rushing to their vehicles to escape.

The area where the incident occurred extended over multiple properties along a street in the neighborhood, covering about 2 acres, involving both indoor and outdoor spaces, as explained by Major Aaron Turk of the Sheriff’s office.

Among the affected was 58-year-old Shawn Patrick Hood, also from Lenoir, who lost his life, making him the oldest victim in an age range that reached as young as 16. The Sheriff’s office has appealed to those who were present at the party to come forward with any information that might help in the investigation.
