ATLANTA — The Atlanta Braves are looking to revitalize their coaching staff in a bid to improve their recent performance on the field. In an effort to shake things up, the team announced the return of former manager Fredi González, who will take on the role of acting third base coach. This change comes as Matt Tuiasosopo, who previously held the third base coaching position, transitions to a new role as the minor league infield coordinator.

After a disappointing stretch, with the Braves losing eight of their last eleven games, the team is eager for a fresh start. Holding a season record of 27-31, the Braves currently find themselves in fourth place within the NL East, a position they are keen to improve.

González is no stranger to the Braves, having previously managed the team. He also brings experience from his time with the Miami Marlins. More recently, González spent five years with the Baltimore Orioles, serving as part of their coaching staff, which included a three-year stint as their bench coach. However, he was replaced last offseason, freeing him up to return to Atlanta in this new capacity.

As the Braves took the day off on Monday, the organization hopes these changes will help reverse their fortunes and bring more success on the field. The team is counting on González’s experience and familiarity with the organization to help guide them through this challenging phase.
