NASHVILLE, Tenn. — In an exciting clash on Saturday, Hannes Wolf delivered two crucial second-half goals that allowed New York City FC to secure a 2-2 draw against Nashville SC.
New York City FC, currently holding an 8-6-3 record, has shown resilience in its recent away matches, suffering only two losses in the last six outings, thereby earning six points on the road. In contrast, Nashville SC, with an 8-5-4 record, has maintained an impressive unbeaten streak spanning eight games. Their last defeat was a 3-0 result against Seattle on April 19.
Wolf was pivotal in NYCFC’s come-from-behind effort, reducing Nashville’s lead to 2-1 in the 54th minute. This came after a well-coordinated passing attack that culminated in Wolf finding the back of the net. The equalizer came late, in the 87th minute, when Keaton Parks directed a loose ball towards the 6-yard box. Wolf displayed sharp reflexes, getting a touch past Nashville’s goalkeeper Matt Freese, who had ventured off his line.
Nashville’s Sam Surridge was also in top form, scoring twice in the first half. This match marked the third consecutive game in which Surridge found the net. The initial breakthrough came in the 27th minute, where he capitalized on a back-heel assist from Hany Mukhtar. Surridge’s second goal increased Nashville’s lead at 2-0, courtesy of a deft finish following Alex Muyl’s impressive individual play in the 41st minute.
The draw adds another chapter to both teams’ eventful seasons, with NYCFC keen to extend its road resilience and Nashville proudly holding on to its unbeaten run.
