SEATTLE — On Saturday, the Minnesota Twins announced the return of their outfielder, Matt Wallner, from the 10-day injured list just in time for the game against the Seattle Mariners.
Wallner, who had been sidelined due to a strain in his left hamstring, was set to bat fifth and assume his position in right field, as per the team’s statement.
In order to accommodate Wallner’s return, the team made the decision to send outfielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr. back to their Triple-A affiliate in St. Paul.
The 27-year-old Wallner had missed the last 38 games for the Twins. During the current season, he has a batting average of .263, accumulating five doubles, two triples, one home run, three RBIs, nine walks, and scoring seven runs over the course of 18 games.
While on a six-game rehabilitation assignment with the St. Paul team, Wallner showcased his form by hitting .320, including one double, five home runs, driving in 13 runs, and earning two walks.
