MUNICH — The Champions League final on Saturday became an eventful evening for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) fans, who attempted to storm the field in celebration of their team’s triumph. A significant number of supporters tried to make their way onto the field at Allianz Arena after witnessing PSG secure a 5-0 victory over Inter Milan, earning their first-ever Champions League trophy.
Following the final whistle, rows of police officers stood guard in front of PSG’s section of the stadium, aiming to manage the exhilarated crowd. However, their efforts proved challenging when enthusiastic fans surged down from the stands immediately after the trophy presentation, eager to join the celebrations on the turf. The police ultimately succeeded in escorting the fans back to their seats. PSG players had already retreated to the locker rooms, cutting short their initial post-match celebrations in front of their supporters.
Once order was established, the PSG players returned to the field to celebrate once more with the prestigious trophy. Throughout the match, the atmosphere was overwhelmingly dominated by PSG fans, their cheers drowning out those of Inter Milan supporters. Many Inter fans exited the venue well before the game concluded after witnessing their team overwhelmed by the French side.
In an impressive display, Désiré Doué scored twice for PSG and assisted Achraf Hakimi in netting another goal. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and substitute Senny Mayulu also put their names on the scoresheet, contributing to PSG’s record-breaking victory margin in the 70-year history of the competition’s finals.
