LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Dodgers have moved starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow to the 60-day injured list. This decision was announced on Saturday, coinciding with the club’s acquisition of catcher Chuckie Robinson, who was picked up off waivers. Robinson, 30, found himself a free agent after the Angels designated him for assignment earlier in the week.
Glasnow had initially been placed on the 15-day injured list on April 28 due to inflammation in his right shoulder. With the transition to the 60-day list, the right-hander is not expected to return until late June. However, there is optimism following his first bullpen session last week. Glasnow’s season thus far includes five starts, posting a record of 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA over 18 innings pitched. Unfortunately, his debut season with the Dodgers last year was cut short due to tendinitis in his right elbow.
New addition Robinson was hitting .272, boasting one home run and 18 RBIs with the Triple-A affiliate in Salt Lake City before being claimed. His previous major league experience includes playing 25 games with Cincinnati, where he hit two home runs and collected five RBIs. He also briefly played within the Chicago White Sox organization during the previous season.
Defensively, Robinson has been reliable behind the plate with a .992 fielding percentage and has been successful in throwing out 12 of 48 base-stealers. The Dodgers may find his skills a valuable asset as they navigate the upcoming weeks.
