OKLAHOMA CITY — In a dramatic clash at the Women’s College World Series on Friday night, Kedre Luschar drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning, propelling Presley Lawton home and sealing a 6-5 triumph for Oregon over Mississippi in an elimination match.

Oregon (54-9) had initially surged ahead with three runs in the fifth inning to secure a 5-2 advantage. However, Ole Miss (42-21) mounted a formidable comeback, rallying with three runs in the seventh inning to equalize the score, challenging Oregon’s starter, Lyndsey Grein. Jamie Mackay, coming off the bench as a pinch hitter, leveled the game at 5-5 with a two-run double.

With this victory, Oregon advances to a decisive game slated for Sunday, where they will face the loser of Saturday’s contest between Oklahoma and Texas. “Our team fought incredibly hard,” remarked Oregon’s head coach, Melyssa Lombardi. “The determination they’ve shown all season prepared us for this moment.”

Dynamic sibling duo Kedre Luschar and Kai Luschar contributed significantly for the Ducks, tallying a combined five hits and three runs. Meanwhile, Ole Miss saw Aliyah Binford incur the loss in relief.

Ole Miss’s coach Jamie Trachsel was quick to commend her team’s resilience, stating, “We experienced an extraordinary journey this season. The progress and efforts of our players have been remarkable, notwithstanding the heartbreak of this result.”

In their inaugural World Series appearance, the Rebels witnessed Persy Llamas deliver two hits and secure two RBIs. A pivotal RBI single from Llamas in the fifth drew the teams level at 2-2 before Oregon’s response in the subsequent inning regained the lead against Ole Miss starter Brianna Lopez.

The game began with Ole Miss taking an early lead through a first-inning RBI single by Llamas, though Oregon quickly reclaimed a 2-1 lead in their opening inning retaliation. Grein successfully extricated herself from a bases-loaded dilemma in the fourth inning but was substituted in the fifth after Jaden Pone’s advance to third with two outs. Llamas continued her offensive threat with a sharp single against reliever Staci Chambers to level the game once again.

Reflecting on the spirited contest, Kedre Luschar commented, “Our team is always prepared to battle at any moment, and we stand united. Tonight demonstrated our resolve—there was simply no quitting.”
