SEATTLE — In a nail-biting game on Friday night, the Minnesota Twins came from behind to secure a 12-6 victory over the Seattle Mariners, thanks to Carlos Correa’s clutch two-run homer in the 10th inning.

Correa wasted no time, sending a first-pitch sinker from Mariners reliever Casey Legumina deep into the left-field seats. This decisive hit paved the way for the Twins, who added four more runs to seal their triumph.

Mariners’ closer Andres Munoz, who had been flawless with zero earned runs this season, faltered as Willi Castro slammed a two-run home run. Trevor Larnach then stepped up to even the score with an RBI single.

Despite the Mariners’ setback, catcher Cal Raleigh delivered an impressive performance, launching two home runs to take his season tally to 21. With these achievements, he made history as the first catcher in Major League Baseball with at least 20 home runs before May ends.

However, Raleigh’s heroics weren’t enough to hold back the surging Twins, and Minnesota’s reliever Jhoan Duran ended up with the win, improving his record to 4-1.

A crucial moment unfolded before the game-tying hit by Larnach when outfielder Byron Buxton, freshly returned from the concussion list, made a smart play by stealing second base. With two outs, his move into scoring position was pivotal, as it set him up to score easily on Larnach’s single.

Notably, Raleigh has joined the ranks of two other Mariners’ legends — Alex Rodriguez and Ken Griffey Jr. — as the only players in franchise history to hit 20 home runs before May’s conclusion.

Looking ahead, Seattle will aim for a comeback in the next matchup as right-handed pitcher Bryce Miller, who holds a 2-4 record and a 5.22 ERA, is set to return from the injured list. He will face off against Minnesota’s right-hander Bailey Ober.
