SAN DIEGO — A potential bomb threat led to the arrest of an individual and the evacuation of a Hawaiian Airlines flight at San Diego International Airport, according to officials. The incident unfolded Tuesday morning on an Airbus A330 scheduled to depart for Honolulu.

The airplane had just begun its taxiing process at approximately 8:45 a.m. when a flight attendant notified the captain about a possible bomb onboard, as reported by the Port of San Diego Harbor police. Swift action was taken, and the captain promptly informed police and called upon SWAT team members and the FBI to investigate the situation.
Despite the intense atmosphere, the thorough search conducted by law enforcement revealed nothing suspicious, ensuring no threat to passengers. The authorities arrested a 35-year-old man on charges associated with making a false bomb threat and a false report of a security threat. It was alleged that the suspect claimed the passenger beside him was carrying a bomb.
Hawaiian Airlines further explained that “a guest was overheard making a threat to the safety of our aircraft,” prompting the captain to contact authorities as a safety measure. Consequently, all 293 passengers aboard Hawaiian Airlines Flight 15 were evacuated and transported safely by bus away from the aircraft.
Following the clearance by law enforcement, the situation was resolved, allowing passengers to reboard the aircraft. The flight eventually resumed its journey to Honolulu, departing around 2:15 p.m.
The incident underscores the importance of precautionary measures in aviation security, ensuring the safety and peace of mind of travelers.
