CALHOUN, Ga. — A tragic accident involving multiple vehicles, including semi-trailers, led to the loss of three lives and left two others injured on the busy interstate that connects Atlanta to Chattanooga, Tennessee. The horrific crash occurred on a Tuesday morning, prompting the closure of all southbound lanes.
The collision took place on Interstate 75 near Calhoun, Georgia, as reported by the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office. According to the Georgia State Patrol, a northbound semi-trailer collided with a car and subsequently veered across the median into the southbound lanes. This caused a chain reaction involving two additional semi-trailers, a car, and a pickup truck. The pickup was engulfed in flames following the crashes.
In total, six vehicles were caught up in the chaos, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. Meanwhile, two injured persons were swiftly transported to nearby hospitals, although no immediate information regarding their conditions was available.
Local news videos captured the aftermath of the devastating event, showing one semi-trailer crumpled in a ditch while another leaned precariously off the highway.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the deceased or the injured. This calamity comes just two days after another tragic incident on Mother’s Day, when two lives were lost in a crash on I-75 near Chattanooga, approximately 45 miles north of the location of this recent accident.
