The prestigious PGA Championship is set to take place in Charlotte, North Carolina, at the Quail Hollow Club. The course, measuring 7,626 yards and set at par 71, presents a challenging venue for golfers worldwide. While the prize money for this year remains under wraps, the 2024 championship is projected to offer a staggering $18.5 million, with the winner expected to take home $3.3 million. Televised coverage will include consistent updates from ESPN on Thursday and Friday from morning until evening, and additional coverage on CBS during the weekend from late morning to early evening. Defending champion Xander Schauffele, who secured a victory at the Valhalla Golf Club last year, will be keen on retaining his title. The championship returns to Quail Hollow for the second time since Justin Thomas’s memorable win in 2017.

Quail Hollow has long been a fixture on the PGA Tour, hosting events almost every year since 2003, save for times when it took on the PGA Championship in 2017 and will do so again in 2025, along with the Presidents Cup in 2022. Masters champion Rory McIlroy looks to add to his impressive track record at Quail Hollow, where he has already secured four victories. McIlroy joins an elite list, featuring Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, and Jordan Spieth, in attempting to win the year’s first two major tournaments. Notably, Spieth continues in pursuit of the PGA Championship for his career Grand Slam, marking his ninth attempt. The elite field this year includes 99 out of the top 100 players globally, with Billy Horschel noticeably absent due to hip surgery. North Carolina plays host to its second consecutive major, following Bryson DeChambeau’s U.S. Open triumph at Pinehurst No. 2 last year. Next year’s event will shift to Aronimink Golf Club.

Turning to the Regions Tradition, the PGA Tour Champions are gathering in Birmingham, Alabama, at the Greystone Golf & CC. The course is slightly shorter than the PGA Championship course at 7,249 yards and plays to a par 72. With $2.6 million in prize money up for grabs, the winner will claim $390,000. This tournament is part of the five major series on the PGA Tour Champions calendar, interestingly coinciding with the PGA Championship, prompting some past champions like John Daly and Vijay Singh to opt out of the latter. This year, the familiar face of ESPN’s David Duval will instead compete in Birmingham. Veteran golfer Steve Stricker also returns after battling injury earlier this year.

On the Korn Ferry Tour, the AdventHealth Championship is happening in Kansas City, Missouri, at the Blue Hills CC, a course playing 7,383 yards at par 72. Unlike previous tours, this one won’t be televised. Harry Higgs was the last tournament’s victor, and Hank Lebioda currently leads in points. Players look ahead to the upcoming Visit Knoxville Open.

The ordinary PGA Tour saw Sepp Straka triumph at the recent Truist Championship, with the Charles Schwab Challenge on the horizon. Rory McIlroy presently leads in the FedEx Cup standings. As for the LPGA Tour, Jeeno Thitikul emerged victorious at the Mizuho Americas Open, and will soon head to the Mexico Riviera Maya Open with a firm lead in the Race to CME Globe standings.

In European Tour action, Martin Couvra claimed the title at the Turkish Airlines Open, and participants are looking forward to the Soudal Open. Rory McIlroy also holds the Race to Dubai lead.

The LIV Golf League concluded its LIV Golf Korea tournament with Bryson DeChambeau taking home the trophy and now anticipates the Virginia event in early June. Joaquin Niemann is topping the leaderboards in points.

Various other tours continue to make their mark on the golfing world. The Epson Tour is hosting the Copper Rock Championship in Utah, while the Japan Golf Tour is underway at the Kansai Open in Japan. The Ladies European Tour sets its sights on the Dutch Ladies Open, and South Africa’s Sunshine Tour’s next destination is the Kit Kat Cash & Carry Pro-Am. Additionally, the Japan LPGA and Korea LPGA have their respective tournaments, the Sky RKB Ladies Classic and Doosan Match Play, lined up.
