ARLINGTON, Texas โ€” Jake Burger has been recalled by the Texas Rangers from their Triple-A affiliate in Round Rock, following a 10-day period after being sent down due to struggles. A key offseason addition, the first baseman had initially encountered difficulties but made a strong impression during his stint with Round Rock.

While part of the Round Rock team, Burger showed impressive form over six games, achieving a .391 batting average by getting 9 hits in 23 at-bats. This performance included two home runs, six RBIs, three walks, and two strikeouts. Notably, he managed to hit home runs in consecutive games over the weekend, enhancing his confidence before rejoining the major league squad.

In his earlier appearances with Texas, spanning 30 games, Burger managed a .190 average, hitting three home runs and driving in 12 RBIs, yet leading the team with a high count of 32 strikeouts in 100 at-bats. For his return to the starting lineup, Burger was positioned seventh and assumed duties as first baseman against the Colorado Rockies in the first of a three-game series.

Coinciding with Burgerโ€™s return, Blaine Crim was optioned back to Round Rock. Crim, who debuted in the major leagues on May 2, the same day Burger was demoted, faced challenges at the plate. During his time with the Rangers, Crim went hitless in 11 at-bats, recording six strikeouts and a single walk across five games.

Jake Burger, 29, was brought onboard through a transaction with the Miami Marlins during the winter meetings held in December. Previously, he exhibited notable power with the Marlins, claiming 29 home runs and contributing 76 RBIs last season. His prior stint in 2023 saw him split time between the Chicago White Sox and the Marlins, where he accumulated a total of 34 home runs and 80 RBIs.
