TULSA, Okla. โ In an Oklahoma courtroom, an intense sentencing session concluded as Xaviar Babudar, famously recognized as the Kansas City Chiefs superfan under the alias โChiefsAholic,โ was handed a 32-year term in state prison following his involvement in a bank robbery near Tulsa. This sentence will only commence once he completes his federal prison sentence.
Appearing before the Tulsa court, Babudar, aged 30, expressed his apology to both the court and the victims connected to the December 2022 heist at the Tulsa Teachers Credit Union situated in Bixby, Oklahoma. His defense lawyer, Jay-Michael Swab, conveyed Babudarโs genuine remorse and ownership of his illicit actions.
Presently, Babudar is serving an over 17-year federal sentence due to his participation in a series of 11 bank robberies across seven states, accumulating close to $850,000. This stolen money largely funded his rising social media persona. According to Swab, these criminal acts were partly driven by a compulsive gambling issue.
Steve Kunzweiler, the Tulsa County District Attorney, advocated for a life sentence, reflecting on the severe impact of Babudarโs actions. Kunzweiler emphasized that Babudarโs history as a repetitive offender inflicted trauma not only on local victims but those nationwide.
The decision by Tulsa County District Judge Michelle Keely mandates that Babudarโs 32-year sentence will run consecutively with his federal sentence. This means that once his federal detention concludes, he will transition to state custody to serve out the remaining 14 years.
Babudar amassed a substantial following on his social media account, known for attending games clad in a wolf costume adorned with Kansas City Chiefs memorabilia. His fervent support for the team garnered notable attention across social media platforms.
