SEATTLE โ€” A dominant performance powered by George Springerโ€™s three-run homer led the Toronto Blue Jays to a 9-1 triumph over the Seattle Mariners on Sunday, finalizing a three-game sweep.

Addison Barger contributed his first home run of the season, adding a solo shot in the seventh inning. The Blue Jays showcased impressive offensive skills, easily scoring against Bryce Miller (2-4) and the slumping Mariners, who had previously held the majorsโ€™ best record since April 7.

Torontoโ€™s offensive push began in the second inning with an RBI single by Myles Straw, followed by a sacrifice fly by Ernie Clement in the fourth inning before Springer significantly widened the gap.

Seattleโ€™s offensive performance fell short against opener Jose Urena and piggyback reliever Eric Lauer (1-0), as they combined for an effective 6 2/3 innings of one-run pitching. The Mariners had a disappointing start to their six-game homestand, managing only seven runs over the three games.

The victory brought the Blue Jaysโ€™ record back to an even 20-20, following a successful 4-2 road trip. They have been strong recently, with a 7-4 record in their last 11 games.

A significant moment came when Springer hit a fastball pitched down the middle by Miller, sending the baseball 416 feet down the left-field line. Left fielder Randy Arozarena merely watched it sail into the crowd, signifying Torontoโ€™s control over the game.

This sweep marked Torontoโ€™s second of the season, with the first occurring against Washington from March 31 to April 2, when they also secured three consecutive victories.

Looking ahead, Seattle pitcher Emerson Hancock (1-1, 5.70 ERA) is scheduled to face the visiting New York Yankees on Monday night. Clarke Schmidt (0-1, 4.79) will take the mound for New York as the two teams begin their three-game series. Meanwhile, the Blue Jays are set to embark on a three-game series against Tampa Bay starting Tuesday.
