In Incheon, South Korea, Bryson DeChambeau showcased his skill and composure on the final day of LIV Golf Korea, securing a victory despite a strong challenge from Charles Howell III. DeChambeau emerged victorious with a 6-under par 66, clinching a two-shot win, marking his first triumph since the U.S. Open in the previous summer.
DeChambeau had been in a commanding position as he began the final round at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club, holding a four-shot advantage. However, his lead appeared vulnerable as he played even par over the first nine holes. Meanwhile, Charles Howell III, his teammate from the Crushers, mounted an impressive challenge by carding a 63, leveling the score as they headed toward the crucial final holes.
The turning point came when Howell stumbled slightly at the 16th hole with a bogey. Meanwhile, DeChambeau gained a two-shot margin by sinking a significant birdie putt on the 17th hole. As they both birdied the final par-5 18th hole, DeChambeau cemented his win, concluding the tournament with a total of 19-under 197, earning him a $4 million prize as the LIV Golf League winner.
The Crushers, inspired by DeChambeau’s performance, secured the team title with a nine-shot lead over the Smash team. DeChambeau’s upcoming challenge will be the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club from May 15-18, where he will join an expected group of 13 other players from LIV Golf. DeChambeau came close to victory at last year’s PGA Championship, finishing second to Xander Schauffele.
