TOETENSEN, Germany — German pop icon Dieter Bohlen is making an earnest appeal to his followers, urging them to return a sign that displays the name of his hometown, Toetensen.
Situated on the outskirts of Hamburg in northern Germany, Toetensen has gained a certain level of fame largely due to Bohlen’s association with it. Known for his roles as a singer, music producer, and judge on Germany’s “American Idol,” as well as being one half of the popular German pop duo Modern Talking, Bohlen’s stardom has brought recognition to the small village.
According to reports, Bohlen believes that a devoted fan might have taken the sign as a keepsake. In response, he took to Instagram over the weekend, sharing a video in which he stood next to the bare signpost and made an intriguing offer—a free ticket to one of his upcoming concerts in the fall for anyone who returns the sign.
Fans have already begun brainstorming creative solutions, with one suggesting a quirky renaming of the town to “Bohlensen” in honor of Bohlen himself.
