AUSTIN, Texas — Minnesota United FC emerged victorious over Austin FC with a commanding 3-0 win on Saturday. This convincing performance featured goals from Anthony Markanich and Joaquín Pereyra, as well as an unfortunate own goal credited to an Austin player.

The opening goal came in the 22nd minute when Austin FC’s midfielder Ilie Sánchez mistakenly redirected a shot attempt by Pereyra. This deflection caused just enough spin for the ball to trickle into the net, eluding goalkeeper Brad Stuver and giving Minnesota an early 1-0 advantage.

Not long after, in the 35th minute, Markanich expanded Minnesota’s lead. He found the back of the net with a precise header from the center of the box, further cementing Minnesota’s position in the match with a two-goal margin.

The final nail in the coffin came as the game wound down, with Pereyra scoring a third goal for Minnesota in the first minute of extra time. From outside the box, he sent in a left-footed shot that sealed the deal and punctuated Minnesota’s dominant performance.

Austin FC, having struggled offensively this season, encountered yet another shutout, marking the fifth instance they have failed to score in 11 matches.
