JOHANNESBURG — Kagiso Rabada, the accomplished South African fast bowler, has revealed a provisional suspension following a positive test for a recreational drug. Returning from the Indian Premier League last month citing personal reasons, Rabada’s decision was confirmed by his team, the Gujarat Titans, as they noted an “important personal matter” requiring his attention.
Rabada issued a statement acknowledging the test results from the use of a recreational substance. His participation in the upcoming World Test Championship final against Australia at Lord’s remains uncertain. The 29-year-old expressed his remorse and eagerness to get back to cricket.
He stressed that this incident would not define his career, emphasizing his commitment to working diligently and maintaining his passion and dedication to the sport. Rabada boasts an impressive record, with 327 wickets in just 70 test matches, alongside 168 wickets in 108 One-Day Internationals and another 71 in 65 T20 internationals.
