FOREST PARK, Ga. — A tragic incident unfolded just south of Atlanta when a shooting resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left at least two others injured during an assembly of motorcycle enthusiasts, authorities reported.
The violent episode took place around 5 p.m. on Sunday in Forest Park, according to a police statement. Upon arrival, officers were faced with a “large and chaotic crowd” comprising 100 to 150 people, while many motorcyclists were hastily fleeing the scene, as described by the Forest Park police department.
Two of the injured individuals were transported to the hospital and remained in critical condition as of Monday, announced Forest Park Police Chief Brandon Criss during a news conference held the same day.
“There was a verbal altercation prior to the incident, but further details on the exact nature of the disagreement are unavailable at this time,” stated Criss, providing limited insight into the events leading up to the shooting.
The police chief expressed confidence that the investigation was progressing well, asserting, “We are very close to bringing those responsible for this crime to justice.”
One of the deceased was identified as a man from Philadelphia, though authorities have released limited information on the victims. While the gathering was associated with motorcycle clubs, the specifics regarding which clubs were involved were not disclosed by Criss.
