PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Raimon Gomez is making waves with his impressive fastball even though he’s still working his way up to the majors. Currently a prospect with the New York Mets’ Class A team, Gomez showcased an extraordinary skill this past Saturday in St. Lucie, where his pitch was clocked at a remarkable 104.5 mph. This is notably faster than any pitch recorded in the major leagues this year.

During the game against Daytona, Gomez delivered a stellar performance, pitching three hitless innings, contributing significantly to St. Lucie’s 4-2 victory. Despite not being listed among the top 30 prospects for the Mets by MLB Pipeline, the 23-year-old Venezuelan has started the season strong, maintaining a scoreless streak over 7 2/3 innings. His outstanding speed offers a hint of the potential he holds as he aims to advance in his baseball career.

It’s worthwhile to note that the fastest pitch in the major leagues this season has been clocked at 103.7 mph, achieved by Mason Miller of the Athletics. Given Gomez’s performance, he not only stands out in the minors but also brings great promise should he continue on this trajectory toward the majors.
