ST. LOUIS — The Milwaukee Brewers have added center fielder Garrett Mitchell to the 10-day injured list, as announced on Saturday.
After undergoing an MRI, Mitchell has been diagnosed with a strain in his left oblique muscle.
During Friday night’s game, which resulted in a 3-2 loss to the St. Louis team, Mitchell started in the right field but exited the game after the fourth inning. Speaking after the match, Mitchell mentioned that he sustained the injury during a swing in his sole at-bat in the second inning when he grounded out to shortstop Masyn Winn.
In response to Mitchell’s absence, the Brewers have promoted left fielder Daz Cameron from Triple-A Nashville.
At 28 years old, Cameron was acquired by the Brewers from Baltimore on April 7. With Nashville, he has shown impressive performance, boasting a .372 batting average in 10 games, along with five homers, 16 RBIs, nine runs scored, and three stolen bases.
Interestingly, Cameron is the son of former major league player Mike Cameron, who once played for the Brewers among other teams throughout his 16-year career, including the Chicago White Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Seattle Mariners, New York Mets, San Diego Padres, Florida Marlins, and Washington Nationals.
Moreover, the Brewers have moved center fielder Blake Perkins from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list due to an injury to his right shin.
