FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — In a match that highlighted key performances from emerging talents, New England Revolution celebrated a 2-0 victory against New York City FC on Saturday evening. Ignatius Ganago emerged as the star player of the game, marking the highlight of his career with a goal and an assist, both firsts for him.

Aljaž Iva?i? was solid in the net as he notched his third clean sheet of the season, making two saves to keep NYCFC at bay. The Revolution, now 3-4-1, have found momentum with all three of their wins coming in the past month.

The scoring opened up for New England in the 43rd minute when Leo Campana struck, giving the team a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. This marked Campana’s debut goal with the Revolution, having previously tallied 28 goals during his tenure with Inter Miami. Ganago contributed a significant assist, setting the stage for Campana’s breakthrough moment.

New England solidified their lead just three minutes into the second half when Ganago capitalized on a crucial assist from Carles Gil, sending the ball into the back of the net. For Gil, known for his scoring prowess earlier this season, this assist added to his career total, now reaching 50 assists over 167 appearances with the team.

NYCFC’s goalkeeper, Matt Freese, put in a commendable effort, making four of his five saves during a challenging first half. The visiting NYCFC, now standing at 3-4-2, couldn’t find a way to crack the Revolution’s well-organized defense.

In a significant return for New England, Tomás Chancalay took to the field for his first home game following an ACL injury last May against NYCFC. He entered the match as a substitute for Campana in the 67th minute, adding depth to the squad.

NYCFC, overcoming their first home victory against Philadelphia Union since 2018, now turns their attention northward as they prepare to face Toronto FC next Saturday. Meanwhile, the Revolution will pack their bags for a clash with Charlotte FC on the same day.
