MILWAUKEE — Luis Severino delivered a commanding performance for the Athletics, allowing only three hits and a single run over eight strong innings. This marks his first win with the team since signing a lucrative $67 million, three-year contract. The Athletics secured a 3-1 victory against the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday night, with key contributions from Brent Rooker and Shea Langeliers, both delivering home runs.

Severino (1-3), in a display of efficiency, threw only 92 pitches, striking out one, and eschewing walks. His efforts were complemented by Mason Miller, who sealed the win with a flawless ninth inning. Miller showcased exceptional speed, reaching over 100 mph with his fastballs throughout a 17-pitch closing effort, securing his sixth save in as many opportunities.

Brent Rooker made a significant impact in the sixth inning when he launched his sixth home run, propelling a 3-2 pitch 398 feet to left-center field off Chad Patrick (1-1), giving the Athletics a 2-1 lead. Patrick’s performance included two runs on seven hits over six innings, alongside seven strikeouts and no walks.

Adding insurance to the lead, Shea Langeliers led off the ninth inning with a commanding 423-foot homer against Joel Payamps, setting the stage for the final 3-1 score. The Brewers initially took a 1-0 advantage in the third inning when Garrett Mitchell doubled and scored through a sequence of groundouts.

The Athletics evened the score with a single run in the fifth, though they left runners stranded on second and third. JJ Bleday and Jacob Wilson initiated the inning with consecutive singles, followed by Miguel Andujar’s RBI double. However, Patrick managed to escape further damage by striking out Gio Urshela and Max Muncy, then inducing Lawrence Butler into an inning-ending fly ball to shallow right.

A pivotal moment came when Patrick, after allowing three hits to start the fifth, retired the next three batters to limit the damage to just one run. Notably, the Brewers failed to advance a runner into scoring position beyond the fourth inning.

The upcoming game will see Jeffrey Springs (3-1, 4.50 ERA) on the mound for the Athletics. The Brewers plan to send out Logan Henderson (0-0, 0.00 ERA) for his Major League debut, following his recent call-up from Triple-A Nashville.
