ARLINGTON, Texas — Shohei Ohtani, renowned for his exceptional skills as a two-way player for the Los Angeles Dodgers, has now entered the journey of parenthood. On Saturday, Ohtani took to Instagram to announce the joyous occasion of welcoming his newborn daughter into the world. His manager, Dave Roberts, further confirmed the heartwarming news during an interview amidst the Dodgers’ 4-3 defeat against the Texas Rangers.

“Congratulations, Sho!” Roberts exclaimed, although he admitted he was uncertain about the baby’s name. At 30 years old, Ohtani had been absent for the first two matchups between the two recent World Series champions. Before Saturday’s game, Roberts mentioned that he was awaiting further updates on the newborn but expressed optimism about Ohtani’s potential return for Sunday’s series finale.

Previously, Ohtani had shared that he and his wife, Mamiko Tanaka, a former professional basketball player aged 28, were expecting to become parents in 2025. In his Instagram post, Ohtani expressed deep gratitude towards his wife for bringing their healthy daughter into the world. “I am so grateful to my loving wife who gave birth to our healthy, beautiful daughter,” he shared. “To my daughter, thank you for making us very nervous yet super anxious parents.”
