In Beijing, an unprecedented event unfolded on Saturday as humanoid robots joined human participants in a half-marathon, marking a notable moment in robotics. These machines, varying in design and size, accompanied people on the 21.1-kilometer (13.1-mile) course with the assistance of dedicated teams consisting of human navigators, operators, and engineers.

Distinct from standard marathons, this event featured a separate path for robots, safeguarded by a clear divider to ensure the smooth running of both parties. While human runners adhered to conventional marathon rules, the event for the 20 competing robotic teams came with specialized guidelines, including pit stops for battery changes, showcasing technological ingenuity.

In a display of robotic capability, the Sky Project Ultra, also called Tien Kung Ultra, emerged victoriously among the mechanical competitors, completing the race in a time of 2 hours, 40 minutes, and 42 seconds. This successful event not only highlighted robotic achievements but also celebrated innovation, with awards distributed for exemplary endurance, exceptional gait design, and the most innovative mechanical form.
