STUTTGART, Germany — Jelena Ostapenko once again proved her mastery over Iga Swiatek with a thrilling victory on Swiatek’s favored clay court. Ostapenko triumphed 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in the quarterfinals of the Porsche Grand Prix, marking her sixth consecutive win against the world No. 2. This win adds another notch to Ostapenko’s record against Swiatek, who is celebrated for her four French Open titles.

“Facing her is always challenging, so I prepare for a tough match every time,” Ostapenko expressed. As the 2017 French Open champion, she was determined to give her all on the court, even if she wasn’t at her best that day. Her determination shone through during the game, and she left no stone unturned in securing her victory.

Ranked No. 24, the Latvian has previously bested Swiatek four times on hard courts and once on grass. Reflecting on her strategy, Ostapenko remarked, “I aimed to be aggressive and deny her time to execute her game because when she has room, she plays exceptionally well.”

Ostapenko is set to face Ekaterina Alexandrova in the semifinals. Alexandrova earned her spot by defeating third-seeded Jessica Pegula with an impressive 6-0, 6-4 scoreline.
