FRISCO, Texas โ The Dallas Stars are set to kick off the playoffs without their leading goal scorer, Jason Robertson, whose participation is hampered by a lower-body injury sustained during the final regular-season game. Coach Pete DeBoer announced on Friday that Robertson is listed as week-to-week, suggesting his absence for the initial matches of the series against the Colorado Avalanche.
Robertson, who has been a pivotal contributor with 35 goals and 45 assists this season, got injured during Wednesdayโs 5-1 defeat against the Nashville Predators. The injury occurred due to an awkward collision along the boards with Nashvilleโs forward Michael McCarron. Following the incident, Robertson was seen with a brace on his right leg as he departed from the arena.
โItโs a part of the game,โ DeBoer explained. โMcCarron plays physically, and when you move the puck, thereโs always a possibility of getting caught in such a situation.โ DeBoer didnโt provide specific details about Robertsonโs injury but confirmed it was a consequence of the collision.
Game 1 in the series will take place Saturday night in Dallas. When questioned about the possibility of Robertson returning for any of the games against the Avalanche, DeBoer mentioned that there is a chance if the series extends beyond a week.
The Stars will need to adjust their strategy in Robertsonโs absence, relying on other key players to step up against a formidable opponent in Colorado. As the games progress, fans and teammates will remain hopeful for his swift recovery and swift return to the ice.
