In the scenic town of Mammoth Lakes, California, actor Haley Joel Osment is facing legal troubles following an incident earlier this month. The 37-year-old, best known for his roles in “The Sixth Sense” and “A.I. Artificial Intelligence,” has been charged with public intoxication and cocaine possession. These charges were announced by the Mono County District Attorney’s office on Thursday.

According to the authorities, Osment was apprehended on April 8 at the Mammoth Mountain ski resort. The arrest was made due to suspicions of public intoxication, as detailed by District Attorney David Anderson in a press release. The acclaimed actor is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on July 7.

Attempts to reach Osment’s representative for a comment regarding these charges have so far been unsuccessful. Despite these recent legal issues, Osment has maintained a notable presence in the entertainment industry over the years. He gained early fame and an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor for his compelling performance alongside Bruce Willis in M. Night Shyamalan’s psychological thriller “The Sixth Sense.” He further solidified his acting career by starring in the 2001 Steven Spielberg film, “A.I. Artificial Intelligence.” Additionally, Osment has carved out a niche as a voice actor and has appeared in popular television series such as “The Kominsky Method” and “What We Do in the Shadows.”

Osment’s personal life has also been marked by challenges. Earlier this year, he was among the many affected by the massive Eaton Fire that ravaged the Altadena area near Los Angeles, leading to the loss of his home. This recent incident echoes a previous run-in with the law in 2006 when he was charged with driving under the influence and marijuana possession after a car accident in the Los Angeles area.
